Table Mountain National Park, Cape Town: At the South-Western tip of the Africa Continent

This World Heritage Site is undeniably the largest tourist attraction in Cape Town, and indeed in South Africa. Popular picnic spots are located at the Signal Hill lookout, The Glen, Van Riebeeck Park, Newlands Forest, Constantia Nek, Oudekraal, Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, Tokai, Witsand, Soetwater, Buffels Bay, Bordjiesrif, Miller's Point and Perdekloof.

Southern Right Whales entertain thousands of spectators each year as they come close to shore to mate and calve. Sightings peak in September, and there are a number of view sites along the scenic coastline and Boulders Beach is home to a growing colony of the Jackass penguin.

Table Mountain National Park, previously known as the Cape Peninsula National Park, contains two well-known landmarks: Table Mountain, for which the park is named; and the Cape of Good Hope, the southwesternmost extremity of Africa.

The Table Mountain Cableway carries visitors from the Lower Cable Station on Kloof Nek Road to the top of Table Mountain, allowing visitors to avoid the fairly arduous walk up.
Boulders Beach, south of Simon's Town, contains a large colony of African Penguins.

Cape Point and the Cape of Good Hope are very scenic, although they are neither the southernmost tip of Africa nor the meeting-place of the Atlantic and Indian Oceans, as is often believed.
