SKVKR003 :: 2 Nights/3 Days Lake Nakuru National Park and Lake Bogoria Safari

This short safari is ideal for a weekend and it can start on Friday and end on Sunday. The safari takes you to Lake Nakuru and Lake Bogoria in the Great Rift Valley.

Day 1: Nairobi and Lake Nakuru

Our driver/guide will pick you from the place of your choice within Nairobi at about 0800hrs. Our journey to Lake Nakuru will cut across the Great Rift Valley, with Mt Longonot in the background. You will also see the enchanting Lake Naivasha, the highest and purest of the Great Rift Valley lakes.

We will arrive in time for lunch at the Sarova Lion Hill located inside Lake Nakuru National park. After lunch, we will set out for an afternoon game viewing drive. The park is renowned to be a bird watchers’ paradise due to the numerous populations of birds, the most famous being the thousands of flamingos which form a very beautiful deep pink coloration around the edges of the lake shore.

Apart from these flamingos and other over 400 species of birds, there are approx 400 other species of birds visiting the lake.

Also, many species of game can be found in the park including the introduced Rothschild's giraffe, black and white rhino, waterbuck, reedbuck, lion, buffalo, leopard, baboon and many species of plains game.

We have a late evening game drive. We return for dinner and overnight at the Sarova Lion Hill Lodge.

Day 2: Lake Nakuru and Lake Bogoria

We have early breakfast at the Sarova Lion Hill Lodge and then set out for our second leg of the safari, which takes us to Lake Bogoria inside the Lake Bogoria National Reserve. We arrive in time for lunch at the Lake Bogoria Country Club.

In the afternoon, we leave the lodge for a game drive and walk around this spectacular lake in the heart of an arid landscape. The soda waters of the lake attract massive flocks of flamingos, and the lake is often carpeted in pink, due to the high concentrations of flamingoes and the Western shore lined with hot springs and spouting geysers, spurting steam and bubbling geothermal pools. Fresh water springs at the lake edge attract an abundance of birds and wildlife.

We return to the Lake Bogoria Country Club later in the evening for dinner and overnight.
