Amboseli National Park, which is the third most visited game area in Kenya after Maasai Mara Game Reserve and the Nakuru National Park, embodies five main wildlife habitats (open plains, acacia woodland, rocky thorn bush country, swamps and marshland) and covers part of a pleistocene lake basin, now dry. Within this basin is a temporary lake, Lake Amboseli, which floods during years of heavy rainfall.
Main game viewing lies in the Eastern half of the park, in the vicinity of Ol Tukai Lodge and lakes Engoni Naibor and Loginya. Game includes elephant, lion, leopard, cheetah, giraffe and buffalo. Also common game such as zebra, eland, coke's hartebeest, white-bearded Gnu, waterbuck, Thomsons and Grant gazelle and impala.
Dinner and overnight at the Amboseli Serena Lodge/Ol Tukai Lodge.
Day 2: Amboseli
Full day at Amboseli. We depart early at dusk for an early morning game drive and then return to the lodge for breakfast. This is the best time to capture the early-riser predators in action and see the beautiful scenery created by sun rays on top of the snow-capped Mt Kilimanjaro.
We have lunch at the lodge and spend the early afternoon on leisure on your own. We meet again late in the afternoon and proceed for game drive in this Park famed for the best view of Mt Kilimanjaro and the huge population of elephants.
