This is a national park in the Eastern Cape province of South Africa proclaimed in July, 1937 for the purpose of providing a nature reserve for the endangered Cape Mountain Zebra.

The number of zebras has increased steadily. Since 1978, capture and relocation of Mountain Zebras to new habitats have been part of the routine management of the park. Between 200 and 230 zebras are maintained in the Park, and an average of about 20 animals are relocated each year. Through the years, additional farms have been purchased to increase the size of the park to the current 200 km².

Other mammals found in the boundaries of the park include caracal, Cape Buffalo, black rhino, eland, black wildebeest, red hartebeest, gemsbok and grey rhebok.

Accommodation
The park offers various types of accommodation in Eastern Cape to suit the needs of guests. There are camping facilities, a guest house and lovely family chalets.

Doornhoek Guest House: This beautifully-restored Victorian homestead offers exclusive luxurious accommodation for six guests. The facility features three bedrooms, en suite bathrooms with bath and a fully equipped kitchen. The four bed family cottages each boast two bedrooms, a bathroom and a partially equipped kitchen.

Camping: The park has caravan and camp sites which are suitable for those guests wanting an authentic wildlife experience in the wild. The sites have communal ablution facilities and are equipped with 220V power points. A maximum of six guests, one caravan with a side tent and one vehicle, or one tent and one vehicle or other motorized caravan is allowed per site.
