Mombasa is the second largest city in Kenya, lying on the Indian Ocean. It has the largest port in East Africa, the Kilindini Port, and an international airport, Moi International Airport Mombasa. The port, the international airport and superb beaches makes the city the centre of the coastal tourism industry in East Africa.

A spectacular coral reef, uninterrupted for 480 km, runs along the palm fringed coastline. The waters below team with marine life while up above a huge diversity of birdlike occupies the mangrove forests or overhanging cliffs.
The beaches of Kenya have become one of the world's great playgrounds, with plenty of opportunities for water sports or simply sunbathing. More than half of the country's international hotels are based along the Coast.

This tranquil haven is home to several well established resorts, and many private guesthouses scattered through the forest along the deserted shore.

Malindi is a town on Malindi Bay at the mouth of the Galana River, lying on the Indian Ocean coast of Kenya. It is 120 kilometres Northeast of Mombasa.

Tourism is the major industry in Malindi. The city is exceptionally popular among Italian tourists. Malindi is served with a domestic airport, Malindi Airport, and a highway between Mombasa and Lamu.

Malindi marine Park and Reserve is endowed with magnificent resources such as fringing reefs, coral gardens in the lagoons, sea grass beds, mangroves, mudflats, high fish diversity, marine mammals (e.g. dolphins), Turtles and Shorebirds.

The nearby Watamu resort and Gedi Ruins (also known as Gede) are located south of Malindi. The mouth of the Sabaki River lies in northern Malindi. The Watamu and Malindi Marine National Parks form a continuous protected coastal area south of Malindi. The area shows classic examples of Swahili architecture.

Watamu is a seaside resort on the Indian Ocean coast of Kenya. It lies on a small headland, between the Blue Lagoon and Watamu Bay. Its main industries are tourism and fishing. The nearest big town is Malindi to which it is connected by frequent matatu.

The shoreline in the area which features white sand beaches and offshore coral formations arranged in three bays: Watamu Bay, Blue Lagoon and Turtle Bay. They are protected as part of the Watamu Marine National Park. The Marine Park is considered to be one of the best snorkelling and diving areas on the East African coast.
